Terms & Conditions
Your reservation is made with Michael and Frances Hampshire, trading as Harbour Lights Guesthouse and represents a legally binding contract between you and the Guesthouse.
A deposit equivalent to that of 1 nights booking (by debit or credit card) will be required upon your reservation and is non refundable.
We accept Cash, Cheques, Debit and Most Credit Cards. We do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards. Payment by cash, cheque and UK issued personal debit card is included in the prices quoted.
Provisional bookings will be released within 24 hours if card details are not taken to confirm the reservation. Bookings can also be reserved by a cheque by agreement with the proprietor.
Please note we do not take stag or hen parties.
Any variation or cancellation of the contract must be done by mutual agreement between the guest(s) and guesthouse. Failure to arrive on the day, whatever the reason, will result in full payment being taken from your debit / credit card for the full booked reservation, without further permission.
We reserve the right to impose a minimum two day stay at weekends in high season and bank holidays.
We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.
If you do need to cancel your reservation we reserve the right to charge your debit / credit card based on the following time scales:
over 1 calendar month's notice – deposit only
14 - 30 days notice - 50% of total cost
Less than 14 days notice - full cost
By entering into this contract you are authorising us to charge your debit / credit card for any losses, damages and any other occurrances encountered during your stay with us at Harbour Lights Guesthouse without any additional consent being required.
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.
Other than for death or personal injury our total liability to you is limited to the price of the booking and in no circumstances will we be responsible for any indirect or special damages.
We will not be liable for failure to perform to the extent that the failure is caused by any factor beyond our reasonable control.
Check in is usually from 4.00 p.m. onwards but can be changed by prior arrangement. If you require access to your room earlier than this time, please call us and we shall be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
Please vacate your room by 10.30am on the day of departure, unless otherwise arranged.
Upon arrival you will be given a set of keys for the front door and your room.
Lost keys should be reported to us immediately and replacement keys will be charged for.
In the event that your keys aren't returned at the end of your stay then the cost of replacing locks and producing new sets of keys will be charged for.
Harbour Lights Guesthouse is strictly non smoking. We reserve the right to terminate immediately the stay of any guest found to be smoking in the Guest House without being liable for any refund or compensation. We also reserve the right to make a charge equivalent to one night stay for cleaning of the room and to charge for any damage caused.
We reserve the right to terminate your booking immediately without being liable for any refund or compensation when you engage in unacceptable behaviour that causes a disturbance or nuisance to other guests.
Any data gathered during the course of this booking may be held on computer. At no time will your information be shared with a third party.
We will occasionally use your data to advise you of special offers and promotions that we have available. If you do not wish us to use your data in this way please advise us.
